FAQs

  • Pickleball is a fast-growing sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It is played with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes on a court similar to a tennis court, but smaller. It can be played as singles or doubles.

  • No prior experience is required! We welcome players of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced.

  • We have paddles available at all sessions if you are starting out. You do however need non-marking trainers suitable for a sports hall and active clothing similar to badminton.

  • Sessions are £5-£6, except for summer outdoor sessions which are £2.50. We also have an annual membership fee of £10 (payable after a couple of sessions).

  • Court availability depends on the day and time, as we have open play and scheduled events. You can view session availability through our Spond App.

  • Every session is a mixed-ability, social session. For our larger sessions however (Notre Dame, Hallam and Girls High) we use a formula that creates competitive matches.

  • Yes, we currently have a monthly fixture against Stocksbridge and a competitive ladder (inclusive to all abilities) once a month.

  • You may bring a guest to match, but unfortunately all players must sign-up through the Spond App. This is for insurance and liability purposes.

  • There is, with cafe-drinks after our Bingham Park sessions, summer festivals planned and a Christmas bash planned. We have two social secretaries in our newly formed committee who are looking to expand the social aspect of the club.

  • As a volunteer run club, we are always in the look-out for volunteers. Please get in touch if you’d like to be involved.

  • We have a Facebook and Instagram account, along with a monthly newsletter planned to provide members with updates and share pickleball stories!

  • While there is no strict dress code, we recommend wearing comfortable athletic clothing and tennis shoes with non-marking soles. This will ensure that you are comfortable and safe while playing.

  • You can contact us here, or by email to sheffieldpickleball@gmail.com

  • Unfortunately due to safeguarding U18s can only join our family sessions.
